Fabian Aichner is on his way to Bound for Glory in October, as he won his TNA X-Division Championship qualifier match against Rohit Raju on this week’s episode of “TNA Impact.”
The former WWE star looked good after hitting a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Raju. However, Raju, a former X-Division Champion, refused to let Aichner remain in control in the early goings by sending his opponent tailbone-first into a pair of steel stairs on the outside. Later in the match, Raju escapes and rocks Aichner with a jumping knee strike for a one count. Raju goes to the high-rent district, Aichner moves out of the way. Aichner snatches Raju with a heavy clothesline followed by his Hasta la Vista finisher for the pinfall victory. Aichner now joins KC Navarro as part of the upcoming six-way scramble to determine who will become the new X-Division Champion.
At Lockdown last month, Leon Slater became the two-time X-Division Champion against Cedric Alexander. However, “The Youngest in Charge” evoked his “Option C” clause against TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth, which allows any X-Division Champion to drop their title and challenge for the World Championship. Slater and Nemeth will meet one-on-one at Bound for Glory on Sunday, October 11, in Tampa, Florida.
