CMLL’s biggest show of the year is rapidly approaching as the 93rd Aniversario event will take place on September 18 at the iconic Arena Mexico. The card is already full of some of the biggest names in Lucha Libre as well as some international guests, but there has been a late addition to the card in the form of AEW star Jeff Jarrett taking on CMLL icon Blue Panther.

The match was revealed on CMLL’s “Informa” show on Wednesday evening, where Jarrett sent in a video challenging Panther to a match at the anniversary event, with the bout being officially signed shortly after. It will be the first time either man has ever faced off against one another, and for Jarrett, it will be his first televised match inside Arena Mexico after wrestling a dark match before AEW Grand Slam Mexico back in August. Jarrett will therefore join an esteemed group of performers who have wrestled at Arena Mexico, Madison Square Garden, Wembley Stadium, and the Tokyo Dome, which currently includes the likes of Jon Moxley, Will Ospreay, Mercedes Mone and more. As for Blue Panther, it will be his first appearance at an Aniversario event in three years, last wrestling at the 90th Aniversario show back in 2023.

Jarrett won’t be the only performer representing AEW on September 18 as both AEW National Champion Andrade El Idolo and ROH World Champion Bandido will also be wrestling in singles matches against Volador Jr. and Soberano Jr. respectively. The likes of Komander, Claudio Castagnoli, and Mina Shirakawa will all be challenging for championships on the night, dual-contracted AEW talents like Hechicero and Persephone will be defending their CMLL titles, and there will also be representation from both New Japan Pro Wrestling and STARDOM thanks to appearances from Zack Sabre Jr., Starlight Kid, Maika, and many more.
