GERMAN side Eintracht Frankfurt have dismissed their team doctor for secretly treating an opposing player in private.
The incident happened in November at Frankfurt’s team hotel, before their 1-1 draw away at Heidenheim.

Head team doctor Fabian Plachel allegedly treated Austrian Mathias Honsak, his compatriot, without seeking the approval of the club.
The Heidenheim winger was seen by Frankfurt players walking through their hotel corridors, which drew their ire.
Fans have raised doubts about the decision, questioning the ethics of firing a doctor for “doing his job”.
One wrote on reddit: “I don’t see the problem. Doctors are doctors, they swear an oath to help people. This really should be a non-issue.”

Another said: “I mean, that’s his job and obligation. Even when he’s a player of another club, rivalry should never come between health.”
Plachel spent around two years working with Union Berlin before moving to Frankfurt in 2022.
He will be replaced internally by Sebastian Schneider on an interim basis.
Honsak, who has been capped once by the Austrian national team, made more than 100 appearances for Darmstadt before joining Heidenheim.
Frankfurt are outside the Champions League play-off spots with just one win in five matches, facing another tough midweek test away to Barcelona.
They are seventh in the Bundesliga, trailing league leaders Bayern Munich by 16 points, after a crushing 6-0 defeat to RB Leipzig.
