After vowing to win the Undisputed WWE Championship during a heated “SmackDown” promo earlier this month, Randy Orton has revitalized the idea that he could very well reach his 15th world title reign. However, last week, Orton failed to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match, making people question whether “The Viper” will actually reach that milestone or not.
According to Bully Ray on “Busted Open Radio,” fans should probably temper their expectations, as he doesn’t think a title reign is in Orton’s immediate future. Bully stated that he does believe that Orton will get his title shot, but right before he hits the killing blow, his championship dreams will be dashed. “Much like you saw Randy Orton slide into that ring and come into frame at SummerSlam and cost Cody Rhodes that championship and RKO [him], you’re going to see Cody Rhodes slide in and do exactly what he told Michael Cole he said he’s gonna do!” he proclaimed, before later proposing that it could happen at WrestleMania next year.
This year, Orton has been more open about his championship aspirations, acknowledging how he’s currently tied with Triple H at 14 WWE titles with Ric Flair and John Cena ahead of both of them. Some fans have pushed for Orton to tie with Cena or Flair, but Orton expressed that he’d love to just have one more title to round off his nearly 30-year pro wrestling career, especially because of how important the industry has been to him and his family.
