But he is also no novice to the radio having sat in for talkSPORT several times in recent months.

The 65-year-old will pair up with Ally McCoist for the Breakfast show as they prepare for a blockbuster final day of the Champions League league phase.

In a statement last week, Brazil thanked fans for his messages and joked he was counting down his days to Cheltenham.

He said: “Thanks for all of the messages I’ve received over the past couple of days.

“I’m fine, just have a wee ear infection, though one of my daughters said it sounds like a bad migraine!

“It’s funny as it’s often when Gabby is on with me!

“I will be back on Breakfast next week.

“Just six weeks to go until Cheltenham!”

While Bruce steps into the hotseat alongside McCoist on Wednesday morning, the TNT Sports co-commentator will also be joined by Gabby Agbonlahor on Thursday.

Ray Parlour and Shebahn Aherne will then assume those duties on Friday.
