Scottish Legends ace Stewart Black is in pole position to top the Ryan Motorsport Insurance Autosport National Rankings as the 2024 club racing season draws to a close.

Just two car racing events now remain this year – this weekend’s Race of Remembrance at Anglesey and the Boxing Day Plum Pudding fixture at Mallory Park – and Black currently holds a one-win advantage at the head of Autosport’s winners’ table.

The highest-placed improver over the past couple of weeks is George Line, the Monoposto dominator taking another two victories in the autumn Tiedemen Trophy mini-series that supported the Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone last weekend.

The Dallara F318 pilot is now onto 15 wins for the year, just two behind Black, and moves up three places from seventh.

The other change inside the top 10 comes courtesy of Matt Simpson, who is up to seventh from 13th after two Pickups victories at the Brands Hatch season finale last weekend.

Further back, Benn Simms triumphed in a dramatic Carl Hamer Trophy final at the Hayes, which was contested by pre-1982 Formula Fords. Four key contenders were eliminated on the opening lap at Becketts and Simms subsequently fought to the head of the new lead pack to triumph in his Merlyn Mk20.

That has taken his 2024 tally to 11 and enables him to jump six places to 18th.

A driver who was victorious over the last weekend of October was John Cutmore, who topped Class C of the Birkett Relay race at Silverstone as part of a crew driving MK Cup 200 prototype machines. He therefore rises 11 spots to 31st.

One of the stars of this year’s WHT was Andrew Rackstraw as he not only repeatedly challenged Rory Smith for victory in the final, but had also topped both his heat and semi-final.

The South African has therefore returned to the top-50 table in 36th place and, amusingly, that is just one spot ahead of Smith! The Medina JL18 pilot bagged three wins across an impressive performance over the Silverstone weekend to also reenter the top 50.

All car races in UK and Ireland are included except qualification/repechage, consolation and handicap races. No races in other countries.

Class wins are only counted when there are at least six starters in the class, except: when the race is part of a multi-stage event where six or more have taken part in earlier heats that feed into a semi-final or final; when multiple championships are merged in the same race, the ‘overall’ winner from the slower championship can count a class win as long as that championship has at least 10 starters across all classes.

Only classes divided by car characteristics are included, not those divided by driver characteristics such as ability, professional status, age, experience (for example rookie or Pro-Am classes). Each race counts only once, so an overall winner’s class win is not added.
