George Springer is a 36-year-old, right-handed hitting, DH/OF, who signed a six-year contract with the Jays back in 2021, for $150 million, so an average of $25 million a year. He’s now played (counting on his fingers), five of those six years.
He seems like just a great guy. Always seems happy.
Over those five years he’s moved from center field to right field and last year played DH in 82 games, right field 44 games, left field 12 times and center 11 times. He really shouldn’t play much outfield anymore. FanGraphs has him at -5 outs above average in his 283.2 innings in right and -6 outs above average in his 436.2 total innings in the outfield.
But then he was terrific with the bat in 2025. George hit .309/.399/.560 with 32 home runs, 18 stolen bases with a 5.2 fWAR. By fWAR (and bWAR), 2025 was his best with the Jays. Not bad at all for a 35-year-old.
Baseball Savant shows that Springer was very good at almost everything in 2025, and, well, not so good at everything in 2024.

It is kind of hard that he was the same guy, just a year older.
The question is “Can he do the same again at 36?’ The easy answer is not likely, but will be be closer to the 4.8 bWAR from last year or the 1.1 bWAR from 2024.
Steamer thinking Springer will play in 134 games, hit .259/.340/.454 with 26 home runs and a 2.4 fWAR which would be closer to 2024.
