Bogdan Bogdanovic entered training camp with the Houston Rockets sporting a new look. Speaking at Media Day on Tuesday, the Serbian guard revealed he will wear number 31 this year.
The Serbian shooting guard joked about his new teammate, Swiss center Clint Capela, to explain the choice.
“I saw Clint is number 30, so I wanted to pick 31. I’m kidding,” mentioned Bogdanovic. “Atlanta was 13, and I wanted just to switch it up. My favorite number is 13, I want it at 31.”
Since his preferred 13 was unavailable in Houston, flipping the digits offered a clever solution.
Indeed, familiar number. Bogdanovic started his career in Europe wearing 13 with Partizan and Fenerbahce. When he joined the Sacramento Kings in 2017, he switched to 8. He reclaimed 13 with the Atlanta Hawks, but later went to numbers 10 and 7 with the Los Angeles Clippers. On the FIBA stage, he wears 7 for Serbia en route to several medals, including a silver in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and bronze in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The former Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion brings 561 games of NBA experience to a roster that includes Turkish starting center Alperen Sengun.
To prepare for the upcoming 2026–27 Regular Season, Ime Udoka’s side plays a short exhibition stretch. They travel to the NBA China Games 2026 for two matchups against the Dallas Mavericks in Macao on October 9 and 11, then return home to host the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 15.
