Last Saturday night, Andy “The Butcher” Williams unexpectedly died following a match at Enjoy Wrestling. The following days have been filled with stories from the two places he made a home for himself: music and pro wrestling. While last night’s “AEW Dynamite” was dedicated to Rebel and a way to raise awareness and funding for ALS research, the show opened with a black and white photo of a smiling Williams. Several onscreen talent wore “AW” armbands. Others paid tribute to him in the ring. Later in the show, Excalibur gave a moving, tearful tribute to the big man.
During Excalibur’s tribute, a graphic popped up to tell viewers that this week’s episode of “Collision” will be dedicated to Williams. On social media, AEW said they “will remember and celebrate the life of one of the best people we’ve ever been blessed to know, “The Butcher” Andy Williams, on Collision this Saturday.”

Some matches for “Collision” are generally announced during “Dynamite”. Last night, no matches were announced and as of this writing, nothing further has been announced. During Tuesday’s ROH tapings, the show opened with a 10-bell salute for Williams. A public celebration of life will be held on September 27.
Enjoy Wrestling co-founder, Kurt Hackimer said in a statement on Sunday, Williams collapsed ringside and hit his head on the floor and his symptoms were consistent with a cardiac event. In a statement, Millvale police chief Tom Komoroski said Williams had stopped breathing shortly before the arrival of EMS. “Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was initiated, and an automated external defibrillator (AED) was applied.” Autopsy results are still pending.
