Former champions trade bold predictions before Saturday’s Sydney main event on Amazon Prime, with both expecting a statement victory in the 154-pound division.

Errol Spence Jr. (28-1, 22 KOs) and Tim Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) left little doubt about their intentions at Thursday’s final press conference, with both predicting victory before Saturday’s super welterweight main event at Sydney’s Afterpay Arena. Spence backed himself to finish the fight early, while Tszyu said the timing could not be better to defeat one of boxing’s biggest names.
The bout marks Spence’s first fight since his loss to Terence Crawford in 2023 and gives Tszyu the chance to secure the biggest victory of his career in front of a home crowd. The winner immediately strengthens his position in the 154-pound title picture.
Spence expects a relentless challenge but believes he is prepared for it.
“I’m gonna get the best Tim Tszyu. He’s been training hard and he’s extremely focused. He knows his back is against the wall. So he’s gotta come with it all.”
The former unified welterweight champion dismissed concerns surrounding his comeback, saying his focus remains on proving something to himself rather than answering outside criticism.
“There are definitely a lot of questions about how I’m gonna come back. I’m ready and I’ve been training hard. There’s no pressure on me, because I’m not trying to prove something to anybody. I’m looking to prove to myself that I still have it.”
Spence also predicted the contest would not reach the final bell.
“I’m gonna put on a great show. We’re gonna both come to fight and I guarantee you it’s gonna end early.”
Tszyu has embraced the occasion from the moment the fight was signed, calling it one of the biggest nights Australian boxing has staged in recent years. Facing Spence in Sydney is the opportunity he believes he has been building toward throughout his career.
“Years ago I remember watching Spence while I was fighting at small venues. Here we are years later and I get to do what I’ve always wanted. I get to fight a legend who’s come to Australia. I’ve got super confidence that I’m gonna beat him.”
The former world champion also made clear he is chasing more than a victory.
“I want to punch him everywhere as hard as I can. It’s not personal, but of course I want to make this his last fight. Of course.”
Saturday’s event headlines a No Limit Boxing Amazon Prime pay-per-view from Afterpay Arena in Sydney. Fans in Australia can watch on Main Event and Kayo Sports, while Prime Video, DAZN PPV, cable and satellite providers will carry the event internationally.
The co-main event sees Stephen Fulton Jr. face Liam Wilson, while Ahmad Reda meets Paul Fleming and Callum Peters boxes Ivan Actis.
Both men arrived at the final press conference projecting confidence. The talking ends on Saturday, when Spence attempts to restart his championship pursuit and Tszyu tries to secure the defining win of his career.
