After his first season in Europe, which he played very well with Rasta Vechta, he transferred to the team that will compete next season in the BKT EuroCup.
Before that, Bamba spent three years at Washington State, then one season at Villanova, and concluded his college career at Oregon.
Tenerife’s statement and biography
La Laguna Tenerife has secured the services of TJ Bamba for the 26-27 season. The new aurinegro player, a 1.95-meter guard/forward, arrives from Rasta Vechta of the German Bundesliga, where last season he averaged 12.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists; and participated in both the domestic tournament (his team fell in the quarter-finals against Alba Berlin, the eventual champion) and the FIBA Europe Cup.
Born in the Bronx, New York (6/1/2001), Ahmed Tijani (TJ) Bamba spent part of his childhood in Senegal before returning to the United States to attend high school, later building a notable career in the NCAA with the Washington State Cougars (2020-23), Villanova (23-24), and the Oregon Ducks (24-25), where he earned a spot on the ‘Big Ten Conference All-Defensive Team’.
After not being selected in the NBA draft in the summer of 2025, he made the leap to Europe to sign with the German team Rasta Vechta, where he had an outstanding season in his first professional year outside the United States. This summer, he participated in the NBA Summer League with the Denver Nuggets; and the previous summer, he did the same with the Brooklyn Nets.
