The German men’s national team will be able to rely on almost full power from NBA and EuroLeague at the Turkish Airlines Supercup in Hamburg (August 21/22, 2026) and the World Cup Qualifier against the Netherlands in Cologne (August 27, 2026) and Poland away (August 30, 2026).
In discussions with national coach Alex Mumbru, almost all of Germany’s best players have shown their willingness to help the team in the coming months.
It is expected that the German’s NT will include seven NBA players: Captain Dennis Schroder, Tristan da Silva, Isaiah Hartenstein, Ariel Hukporti, as well as the newly drafted youngsters Christian Anderson, Hannes Steinbach, and Jack Kayil.
This means that only the two Wagner brothers, Moritz and Franz, will be missing as German NBA players. Both had signaled early on that they would not be available this summer.
Additionally, almost all German EuroLeague players will also help the team in matches that could determine Germany’s qualification for the World Cup.
“This window is very important for us because we can reconnect with many players we haven’t seen for a long time. And since it spans 15 days, we can prepare for the future. The commitment shows the players’ sense of responsibility; they all understand the importance of these games. They want to defend their title at the World Cup 2027 and are also very much looking forward to playing in front of a home crowd. These will certainly be great events for German basketball. In this context, I don’t want to miss the opportunity to once again express great thanks and appreciation to the players who made themselves available immediately after the season in the last window. Without them, we would not be in such a good position now,” said national coach Alex Mumbru.
