Galatasaray has strengthened its roster with a significant transfer ahead of the new season.
They have reached an agreement with Slovenian point guard Aleksej Nikolic, who last played for Cedevita Olimpija.
Previously, the club announced the signings of Dyshawn Pierre, Şehmus Hazer and Chimezie Metu is also on his way to Galatasaray.

Born on February 21, 1995, in Postojna, Slovenia, the 1.91-meter tall Nikolić has gained valuable experience across different European basketball countries throughout his career. The experienced point guard has played in Germany, Serbia, Italy, France, Spain, and Slovenia, competing in leagues such as the EuroLeague, EuroCup, Basketball Champions League, and the Adriatic League.
Nikolić began his professional career at OKK Spars Sarajevo and made a significant breakthrough in European basketball by transferring to Brose Bamberg in 2015. With the German team, the Slovenian guard won Bundesliga championships and gained important EuroLeague experience.
Throughout his career, Nikolić has played for prominent European clubs such as Partizan Belgrade, Treviso Basket, Gravelines-Dunkerque, San Pablo Burgos, Sassari, Brescia, Gran Canaria, and Chalon-sur-Saône. In 2024, he returned to his homeland by transferring to Cedevita Olimpija.
At the Slovenian club, he became one of the team’s leaders, averaging 15.4 points and 3.8 assists in 20 EuroCup games last season. In the Adriatic League, Nikolić averaged 12.8 points and played a key role in his team’s championship in the Slovenian League with 11.1 points and 5.3 assists per game.
In addition to his club career, Aleksej Nikolić has been an integral part of the Slovenian National Team for many years. He was part of the squad that won the EuroBasket championship in 2017. Nikolić also represented Slovenia at the Tokyo Olympic Games, where the team reached the semi-finals, as well as in the World Cup and European Championship tournaments.
