Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury could reportedly be heading toward one of the richest fights in boxing history, with veteran analyst Adam Smith believing both heavyweights may receive around $100 million each for the long-awaited showdown.

Momentum around the fight has increased again following confirmation that Joshua is expected to return July 25 against Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia before moving toward a Fury clash later in the year.
Smith sounded convinced the fight is finally heading toward reality after years of failed negotiations, postponements, and public frustration from boxing fans.
“I think the two of them will share a ring. I think it will stop traffic. I think for the casual fans out there, it’s the biggest fight probably ever on our shores,” said Adam Smith to talkSport Boxing about Joshua and Fury.
“Of course, they’re getting, your guess would be 50 each. More, more. I’d have thought 100 million each. 100 million, you know. I mean, whatever. It’s multi-millions.
“I’ve heard it’s a one-fight deal, but of course it can be a rematch. We’ve seen a trilogy with Fury and Deontay Wilder. We’ve seen two with AJ, and Ruiz and Usyk. They can always go again,” Smith said.
The financial figures being discussed underline how large the fight has become despite both men coming off difficult recent stretches in their careers. Fury lost twice to Oleksandr Usyk, while Joshua was stopped by Daniel Dubois in his last outing.
Smith believes both heavyweights are now at similar stages professionally, which could make the timing right for the fight to finally happen.
Joshua has recently joined Usyk’s training environment in Spain while rebuilding physically and mentally following personal tragedy in Nigeria and the Dubois defeat. Fury, meanwhile, has remained one of boxing’s biggest commercial attractions despite the losses to Usyk.
The fight has still not been officially announced, but Fury’s associate Spencer Brown recently indicated Wembley Stadium is the expected destination. Saudi Arabia also continues to hover heavily over the negotiations after financing several of boxing’s biggest recent events.
Even after years of delays, the possibility of Joshua and Fury finally sharing the ring still carries enormous interest in Britain, where the matchup has remained unfinished business for much of the last decade.
