Patricky Pitbull was forced out of his Karate Combat match with lightweight champion Shahzaib Rind after a brawl broke out Friday morning in Miami, and he’s unhappy with the narrative being built around the incident.
Karate Combat posted on its official Instagram account that the fight was cancelled but Rind would still get a new opponent “as he was inside the hotel during the attack.” Pitbull told MMA Fighting on Friday, however, that Rind orchestrated the whole thing.
Patricky and his brother, UFC featherweight Patricio Pitbull, were involved in a brawl against men they claim were part of Rind’s group. Video shows two men carrying water guns and spraying water at them and their wives.
On a video posted Sunday, Patricio accused the promotion to “purposefully … hid some footage, and we decided to show them to you.” Patricky added that, “as they’re trying to manipulate the footage, we’re showing out side and what they’ve left out.”
Karate Combat president Asim Zaidi wrote on an Instagram post that the Florida commission would suspend both Pitbull brothers “for a very long time” and withhold their money, adding that “I am trying to help them currently, so they can get paid and have only a small suspension. I also helped them with the police so they were not arrested.”
A member of the Pitbull brothers’ team told MMA Fighting they are still awaiting an official word from the commission regarding a possible suspension.
