As he proceeded to make his ring walk, David Benavidez was joined by the Hall of Famer Mike Tyson and boxing star Ryan Garcia. As Benavidez and Zurdo stood in the ring, fight fans were anticipating a very entertaining battle.

The fourth round marked the beginning of the end for the defending champion Zurdo Ramirez. Benavidez spent the majority of the fourth round walking Ramirez down while landing hard shots to the body and head.
With ten seconds remaining in the fourth, Benavidez landed a flurry of shots that sent Ramirez down to the canvas. Ramirez was able to get up as the bell rang to officially end round number four.
With a busted-up nose and severe swelling around his right eye, Zurdo Ramirez courageously continued to stand in the pocket and fight back. In the final 12 seconds of round 6, Benavidez landed another rapid flurry of shots.
Zurdo Ramirez took a knee, was counted out, and Benavidez picked up a historic win. With the victory, David Benavidez became the first boxer in history to win world titles at 168, 175, and cruiserweight.

As a result of his performance on Saturday night, it seems like Cinco de Mayo weekend now belongs to David Benavidez. If Canelo objects to the passing of the torch, maybe he can prove his case during the 2027 edition of Cinco de Mayo.

The crowd responded to the question with a loud roar of approval. David Benavidez doesn’t want to leave a Canelo vs Benavidez fight on the table, but due to his history of ducking this particular bout, Canelo seems fine with leaving the fight right there on the table.
Realistically speaking, David Benavidez wants to enhance his legacy, and he has a number of legitimate options available. He could stay at cruiserweight and fight Jai Opetaia, or he could go back down to 175 to fight Dmitry Bivol or Artur Beterbiev.
