Davis shares sparring footage ahead of Norfolk bout as he promises finish in second meeting
Keyshawn Davis says he expects a stoppage when he faces Nahir Albright on May 16 in Norfolk, Virginia. The former champion shared footage from a demanding sparring session as he prepares for the rematch.
The former WBO lightweight champion was shown sitting in the ring after completing 12 rounds of sparring, covered in sweat with blood visible on his white t-shirt.
The blood appeared to come from his sparring partner after a demanding session, adding to the message Davis wanted to send before fight night.
Davis made it clear he expects a finish when he meets Albright again next month.
- “This fight isn’t personal. I’m going to stop him just like I stop all these other guys. It’s going to be amazing. May 16th,” said Keyshawn on X.
The rematch carries mixed reactions because their first meeting three years ago was later changed to a no-contest after Davis tested positive for marijuana. Some fans have also questioned why Davis is revisiting an opponent many expected him to move beyond at this stage, especially with larger opportunities available at 140 pounds and several fresh names in the division.
Others believe the fight may carry personal value after Albright later defeated Davis’ brother, Kelvin Davis, though that has not been publicly presented as the reason by Team Davis.
Whatever the motive, Davis now has a chance to close old business in front of his home fans. A clear win would help steady his run at super lightweight, but anything less would bring more questions than answers and fresh criticism about the matchmaking.
