Urijah Faber is OK after taking a scary spill in his wrestling match with Arman Tsarukyan.
In a statement posted to Instagram, Faber addressed the controversial moment at RAF 8 on Saturday night when Tsarukyan drove through for a takedown and carried both of them off of the stage. Fortunately, neither fighter was harmed despite Tsarukyan’s recklessness and the bout continued with the No. 1 UFC lightweight contender eventually defeating Faber by tech fall.
See Faber’s statement below.
“He’s got all the makings of a champion,” Faber wrote in a caption. “Except for self control. Spoiled kid for life. Congrats [Tsarukyan], too much cushion for a hospital visit.”
Faber added “#pudding,” a reference to their pre-fight trash talk, which saw Tsarukyan accuse the UFC Hall of Famer of being out of shape. In response to being called a “fat ass,” Faber replied, “Listen, buddy, the proof is in the pudding. I love pudding.” He also countered by mocking Tsarukyan flaunting his affluent lifestyle on social media.
“I don’t like it. I don’t like that,” Martinez said. “You might as well punch him so he can protect himself. Pushing a guy off the stage is pretty dirty to me and I’m not a big fan of that.
“I didn’t like it on my end, even though it was viral. But I don’t have to like everything. I’ve learned that. It’s a promotional thing and it is what it is.”
