In a historic night at the Estadio Obras Sanitarias, Boca Juniors reached the pinnacle of continental basketball by defeating Sesi Franca 86–72 to claim their first-ever Basketball Champions League Americas title on Saturday.
The atmosphere in Buenos Aires was electric as the Xeneize faithful turned the stadium into a sea of blue and gold for the championship game, witnessing a victory that serves as the basketball equivalent of lifting the Copa Libertadores. Under the strategic guidance of head coach Nicolas Casalanguida, Boca showcased a masterclass in defensive resilience and offensive poise to secure a ticket to the 2026 FIBA Intercontinental Cup.
The triumph was anchored by the towering presence of Francisco Caffaro, who was named the Final Four’s Most Valuable Player. The 25-year-old center dominated the paint with 15 points, six rebounds, and two blocks, while Santiago Scala led all scorers with 18 points, orchestrating the tempo and hitting clinical shots whenever the Brazilian side threatened a comeback. While Lucas Dias and Georginho De Paula fought to keep Franca within reach, Boca’s stifling second-half defense allowed them to pull away and secure redemption for their loss in the previous season’s final against Flamengo.
This landmark achievement cements Boca Juniors’ status as a regional powerhouse, adding to a legacy that includes South American Basketball Championship titles from 2004 to 2006. Since its launch in 2019, the BCLA has evolved into the premier tier of the sport, succeeding historical formats like the FIBA Americas League and the Pan American Basketball Club Championship.
By capturing this elusive trophy, Boca has finally secured its debut in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup this September, where it will represent the Americas.
