Round one begins and Lone’er Kavanagh sees a leg kick answered by Brandon Moreno with a hook to wobble him. Kavanagh lands another kick to the body and steps forward for the right, but misses. Moreno goes for a wide right overhand and then catches Kavanagh with the left as he moves into it.Â
Kavanagh continues to target the calf, which begins to redden. He avoids two jabs and a right before returning to jab and kick at the body, and then lands a big headkick to an audible “Oooh” from the crowd.Â
Kavanagh hits a great spinning body kick, crunching Moreno, but slips on an attempted follow-up. Moreno’s left brow is open bleeding, and Kavanagh continues to deepen the welt forming on his left calf.Â
Round one ends with both searching and finding little target.Â
Round two starts with Kavanagh throwing speedy jabs, landing a left kick to the body to drop Moreno to the canvas. Moreno recovers swiftly but his following punches are wild and wide catching nothing but air. Moreno shoots for the leg but Kavanagh blocks it, catching him with a front kick to the face.Â
Kavanagh hits another slapping body kick. Moreno is shaking his left leg in pain. Kavanagh wobbles Moreno with a left hook, and Moreno takes another stumble before recovering. Moreno’s lip starting to show swelling now.Â
Another one-two combination catches Moreno and pushes him back from Kavanagh, but Moreno comes back with some solid jabs and catches Kavanagh in the head. Round two comes to an end.
Round three starts and Moreno launches a landing combination. He continues to search with the left jab, finding nothing but space until a right overhand threatened to drop Kavanagh.Â
Kavanagh returns with a calf kick, takes another shot to the head but continues to search with the jab. Moreno shoots for the legs but Kavanagh falls against the cage defending it, however Moreno retains the waist control and delivers knees to the back of Kavanagh’s legs.Â
Kavanagh slips again on a front kick. But he delivers another accurate headkick afterwards. Moreno lands another stiff right before shooting again, having to again settle for the clinch against the cage. Round three ends with Moreno kneeing Kavanagh.Â
Round four begins and Kavanagh is caught with a wild left hook after a brief combination to Moreno’s face. Moreno goes for the takedown, once again winds up clinching against the cage and settling for the knees to the legs.Â
Kavanagh escapes the clinch at last and hits another calf kick, prompting a limp from Moreno. Round four comes to an end. Moreno is swollen and bloody from the nose and mouth.Â
Round five begins and Kavanagh continues to work the jab followed by a calf kick, drawing Moreno into another takedown attempt resulting in a clinch against the cage. Moreno spends the clinch time plugging away with knees to the legs, but the referee separates them to restart the action.Â
Moreno continues to use the takedown-to-clinch method but gets caught with a back elbow that seemed to wobble him. But both fighters go the distance as the buzzer sounds the end of the fight.
