A TOP FLIGHT football game was suspended after a huge firework display left players unable to see.
Union Berlin fans put on an eye-catching pyrotechnic show in the stands of the Stadion An der Alten Försterei to celebrate the club’s 60th birthday.
Union were eyeing a first Bundesliga win of 2026 against visiting Eintracht Frankfurt, also in the same boat.
The two sides cancelled each other out for 83 minutes before a goal from Nathaniel Brown sparked a wild end to the game.
Two minutes after the visitors took the lead, Frankfurt conceded a penalty and went down to ten men after Oscar Hojlund – younger brother of Rasmus – received a second yellow for bringing down Rani Khedira in the box.
But before the kick could be taken, the referee was forced to briefly delay the match because the players could not see.

Smoke caused by flares put on by the fans left a massive haze over the pitch, leaving players unable to see through the thick fog.
Once it had cleared, Leopold Querfeld converted the spot kick to equalise two minutes after the sending off.
The draw left Union ninth in the table, while Frankfurt moved up to seventh before the rest of the weekend’s games get underway.
Last month another Bundesliga clash was suspended due to smoke from fan pyrotechnics.
Bayern Munich‘s match with Cologne was halted after just four minutes because of smoke caused by flares before the game.
The smoke took a while to clear due to the wintry conditions the clash was being played in.
Harry Kane and Co had to wait nine minutes before play carried on.
Bayern ran out 3-1 winners in the game after going behind.
Serge Gnabry equalised in the fifth minute of first-half injury time before Kim Min-Jae and Lennart Karl scored in the final 20 minutes.
