MANCHESTER UNITED’S managerial target Luis Enrique is expected to sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain, reports suggest.

Enrique, 55, is among United’s top candidates to take over at the helm next season following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal from the top job last month.

According to The Star, however, the Spanish tactician is set to snub Man Utd in favour of extending his stay at PSG before his current deal runs out at the end of next season.

The same source claims the Red Devils sent representatives to Paris and held talks with the former Barcelona boss.

The Manchester giants tried to persuade the ex-Spain manager not to sign a new contract with the reigning French and European champions.

However, Enrique believes managing United is not the right project for him right now with rumours suggesting he would prefer a move back to Barcelona if he was to leave the French giants.

The ex-Roma manager also has reservations about taking over at a club which might not compete in the Champions League next season.

Instead, the PSG boss is holding talks with sporting director Luis Campos regarding a new deal that will tie him down in the French capital until 2030.

The two men have a strong relationship that got even more solid after Campos signed a contract extension of his own.

The Premier League giants are looking for an experienced and proven manager that can handle the kind of pressure and expectations that come with leading a team like Man Utd.

Enrique won a historic treble with PSG last season, which marked his second trifecta triumph after doing the same with Barcelona back in 2015.

England’s Thomas Tuchel and Brazil’s Carlo Ancelotti’s have also been linked but a lot will depend on how well their respective teams do this summer at the 2026 World Cup.

Michael Carrick has been appointed as United’s interim manager until he end of the season and could become a strong candidate if he continues his strong start that saw him winning all of his first three matches.

Carrick’s stock has risen dramatically at Old Trafford after beating rivals Manchester City, Premier League leaders Arsenal and in-form Fulham.
