Round 27 of the EuroLeague featured only one game this Wednesday, but the action was as thrilling as it gets and ended with a surprise. ASVEL escaped with the win from their visit to Italian soil after defeating Virtus Bologna 70–80.
Duško Ivanović’s team takes a step back in their playoff aspirations and drops to a 12–14 record, while the French side enjoy a rare bright moment in a difficult season, improving to 7–19.
As usual, Carsen Edwards was Virtus’ leading scorer with 20 points. However, Aliou Diarra, with 10 points, was the only other player to reach double figures, a statistic that highlights the hosts’ poor offensive performance on the night.
Glynn Watson (19 points) and Mbaye Ndiaye (16) stood out for the visitors, who led for much of the game and managed to withstand the home team’s attempts to mount a comeback.
