Vitek, 22, stretched his arm to tip the ball over the crossbar while he was on the ground.

Senne Lammens, 23, signed for the Red Devils in a £18.2million from Royal Antwerp in the summer window.

Vitek, known as ‘The Wall’ in Bristol, could challenge Lammens for his spot as the Red Devils are keen to sign a new goalkeeper prior to Monday’s transfer deadline.

One fan said: “Radek Vitek could challenge Lemmens for the No1 spot next season.

“Been having a great season in the Championship.”

Another said: “Radek Vitek & Senne Lammens are going to have a hell of a battle for the #1 goalkeeper role next season.

“That is a great problem to have for Manchester United.”

Someone else added: “Surely Vitek is one of the best keepers we’ve [Bristol City] ever had.”

Vitek has been lauded despite Ipswich walking away with a 2-0 victory.

The Robins sit 11th in the Championship under boss Gerhard Struber.

The Czech was signed by Bristol City on loan at the end of July 2025, with a recall clause in January.

The 6ft 6in goalkeeper was originally an injury replacement for Max O’Leary, who played every game of the two previous seasons.

But Vitek has secured his starting position despite O’Leary’s return to fitness.

This is the third loan spell away from with United for Vitek, having spent half of the 2023/2024 season at League Two Accrington Stanley.

In November, Vitek told BBC Sport that his objective remains to become United’s first-choice goalkeeper.

He said: “That’s my plan but I will do my maximum for that and we will see – let’s take game by game and now focussing to play for Bristol City and do my best.”
