MANCHESTER UNITED were handed a daunting FA Cup third round tie tonight – and fans already reckon their dreams of adding to the trophy cabinet have been left in tatters.

The Red Devils discovered that they will go head-to-head with Premier League rivals Brighton at Old Trafford next month after the draw was made.

And Manchester United do not have the best of records against the Seagulls – having lost six of their last nine meetings.

Although Ruben Amorim’s side came out on top when the two sides last had a showdown in October, furious supporters are convinced they will crash out of the FA Cup.

Fans have flooded onto social media in the aftermath of Joe Cole and Peter Crouch picking the sides out of the hat.

One fan said: “This draw is so rigged.”

Another added: “F*** off another s*** fixed draw.”

A third noted: “Knocked out already.”

A frustrated supporter commented: “I knew we just couldn’t survive that seasonal Brighton beating.”

Manchester United have already been knocked out of one competition early – having been humiliated by League Two side Grimsby in the Carabao Cup.

And, with no European action this season, it is expected that the FA Cup is their only hope of winning silverware.

Manchester United were eliminated from the tournament by Fulham in the fifth round last term, after already advancing past Arsenal and Leicester.

Brighton came within touching distance of booking a trip to Wembley for the semi-finals – only to lose against Nottingham Forest on penalties.

Erik ten Hag was in charge of Manchester United when they last won the FA Cup in 2024.

The showdown between the Red Devils and Brighton will take place between January 8-12.
