Montse Rendon and Luan Lacerda have been removed from the UFC roster following losses to Bia Mesquita and Hecher Sosa, respectively, on the March 14 UFC Vegas 114 card, MMA Fighting has learned.
Rendon (7-2) held a 2-1 record in the promotion prior to her recent setback, beating Brazilians Alice Pereira and Tamires Vidal in split decisions with a loss to Darya Zheleznyakova sandwiched in between. The 37-year-old fighter, a former Combate Global and Invicta FC talent, leaves the company after suffering the first stoppage defeat of her career at the hands of Mesquita.
Lacerda (13-4) is a former Shooto Brasil bantamweight champion who went 1-3 in the UFC.
The 33-year-old Nova Uniao fighter lost his first two UFC bouts against Cody Stamann and Da’Mon Blackshear before scoring his first UFC win in October when he tapped out an overweight Saimon Oliveira in Rio de Janeiro. Lacerda’s loss to Sosa marked the completion of his contract.
