Max Griffin is no longer part of the UFC roster.
The 33-fight (19 of which took place in the UFC) veteran announced Thursday that has officially been released by the promotion he has called home since 2016. Griffin, 40, most recently fought at UFC Vegas 116 in April, losing a unanimous decision to Victor Valenzuela. It was Griffin’s third straight loss and his fifth in his past seven fights.

I’ve been officially released by the [UFC]
Life ain’t fair I learned this many years ago…
Looking forward to where I land next
Shout out to all my people
“I have been officially cut from the UFC,” Griffin said. “First off, I want to thank UFC for all these years. Ten years, mind you, in the fight business. … But my shit ain’t over. I still want to fight. My last few fights have been some shoddy decisions. It’s the name of the game, baby. It’s business, man. Yeah, it’s rough, but it is what it is. I still want to fight, I still want to whoop n*ggas asses for money. I still got it.”
During his 19-fight UFC run, Griffin was noted for his durability, going to a decision 14 times and losing by knockout or submission just twice. His best stretch saw him win four out of five fights, with notable victories over Carlos Condit and Tim Means. He also holds a 2018 decision win over future BKFC star Mike Perry.
Griffin closed out his UFC account with an 8-11 record for the promotion, following losses to Valenzuela, Chris Curtis, and Michael Chiesa.
