From left-wing vs. right-wing MMA to little people as announcers and ring girls, Renato Moicano’s Money Moicano MMA 1 had it all.
The UFC lightweight contender founded Money Moicano MMA so he could live stream fights on his own YouTube channel and the inaugural show in Sao Paolo, Brazil, amassed nearly 600,000 views as of Monday morning, peaking at 60,000 fans watching live. The mission was accomplished on that front, but also inside the cage as it delivered wild scenes.
The most anticipated portion of the event was the “Rinha de Inscritos,” sanctioned amateur MMA bouts between subscribers of his YouTube channel. The middleweight clash between Riquelme Fofo and Kaua Rosemberg, dubbed “Lulista vs. Bolsonarista”—supporters of the left-wing president Lula and right-wing president Bolsonaro—ended with left-wing fighter Fofo winning by TKO after Rosemberg quit on the stool.
An exhausted Rosemberg then fainted before the result was read.
Moicano, who at some points played color commentator cageside, couldn’t stop laughing when Artur Homem Deita attempted to defended from punches thrown by Pablo Roccia by protecting the wrong side of his head.
Homem Deira lost a decision, but he farmed some aura with a Carlos Prates-inspired reaction to more punches later in the round.
MMMMA also innovated by having its octagon girl starting the night fully dressed and removing a piece of clothing for every 10,000 likes on the YouTube stream.
Money Moicano MMA crowned its inaugural Rinha de Inscritos champion with Daniel Sovietico stopping Eduardo Lumbriga with ground-and-pound late in Round 1. Lumbriga complained about the stoppage.
Instagram sensation Aguidda Miranda, a.k.a. Aguidasinha, poses with the Rinha de Inscritos paper belt.
The pro MMA portion of the card had its own highlights, like bantamweight Hector Santiago flooring Paulo Nogueira with a vicious right hand in the opening round to improve to 6-1.
Dana White’s Contender Series veteran Jair Farias won a split decision over Ricardo de Almeida in the main event, while former LFA fighter Miguel Porto stopped Thiago Vieira by second-round TKO.
MMMMA is expected to return in October for its second show. The full event replay is available below.
