Gokhan Saricam made an immediate impact in the UFC heavyweight division.
In his first trip to the octagon, Saricam walked out with a victory after scoring an impressive knockout of the returning Tanner Boser on the UFC Winnipeg preliminary card Saturday.
Watch Saricam’s big finish below.
Saricam, best known for a seven-fight run with Bellator, was the aggressor from the start, mixing striking with wrestling to pressure Boser. Though he failed to take Boser down, Saricam was doing plenty of damage with his punches and had a healthy lead on the scorecards going into Round 2.
The Turkish standout stuck with the game plan and eventually caught Boser with a straight right that dropped the Canadian to the canvas. Referee Herb Dean soon stepped in with Saricam landing heavy ground-and-pound.
The official time of the stoppage was 4:43 of the second round.
In his post-fight interview, Saricam (12-2) blamed a shoulder injury for his inability to take Boser down, but he and his team can’t be too disappointed with the results.
Boser (22-11-1) loses in his first UFC fight since August 2023.
