Stephen Curry has shut down any speculation about his future, clarifying his loyalty to the only NBA franchise he has ever known.
In a recent interview with CNBC, the four-time champion with the Golden State Warriors once more dismissed any ideas of testing free agency before his contract expires next summer. “I’ve always stated that I want to be a lifer with Golden State,” Curry said.
With approximately $62M left on his contract for his 18th year in the league, the goal is simple. Keep winning with the core dynasty group. “What we’ve built there, the fact that I get to run it back with Draymond and Coach Kerr,” he added. “My interest and mission is to stay and be competitive.”
Curry also confirmed his offseason efforts to recruit free agent LeBron James, who instead signed with the Philadelphia 76ers. “If anybody didn’t, I think they’d be a fool,” he stressed.
The 38-year-old point guard is still playing at an elite level. Drafted seventh overall in 2009 out of Davidson, the two-time Most Valuable Player and Olympic gold medalist in 2024 has changed how the game is played worldwide. He recently became the first player to pass 4,000 career three-pointers and comes off a season where he averaged 26.6 points per game.
Now, attention turns to the court. After six preseason games in early October, Curry and the Warriors open the 2026–27 Regular Season on October 21 with a road game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
