Shogun Rua wants Glover Teixeira rematch in boxing; Anderson Silva suggests ‘safer’ alternative

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua lost a decision in a boxing match with fellow UFC legend Glover Teixeira this past Saturday night in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and has already walked back on his retirement talks to ask for a rematch.

Rua, who told MMA Fighting prior to the match he would likely retire regardless of the outcome in his first bout since retiring from the UFC in January of 2023, posted a video on social media asking for an immediate rematch in Spaten Fight Night.

“Because a true warrior never gives up,” Rua said. “Guys, I think the fairest thing would be a rematch, Glover and I on the next Spaten event, because it was an absolute war. You guys saw i
