Zalgiris Kaunas could be without one of its new backcourt additions when the EuroLeague season gets underway, with Saben Lee facing several weeks on the sidelines because of a hamstring injury.
The Lithuanian club confirmed on Tuesday that Lee, 27, has suffered a hamstring strain and is expected to miss the remainder of Zalgiris‘ preseason schedule. His recovery timeline also puts his availability for the EuroLeague opener in doubt.
Zalgiris has already secured preseason victories over Juventus and Sabah, but its preparations will continue in London this week. The team is scheduled to meet Paris Basketball at the London Lions Invitational Tournament on Thursday, September 10, followed by a second game against either the host London Lions or Slask Wroclaw the following day.
Lee joined Zalgiris after spending the previous two seasons moving between several EuroLeague clubs. During the 2024-25 campaign, he played for Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv and Olympiacos Piraeus before featuring for both Olympiacos and Anadolu Efes Istanbul in 2025-26.
The upcoming season will be Lee’s third in the EuroLeague. He has appeared in 48 games in the competition, averaging 7.8 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
His strongest stretch came after joining Anadolu Efes midway through last season. In 16 appearances for the Turkish side, Lee produced 11.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, underlining the offensive impact Zalgiris will hope to have available once the new campaign begins.
