During Wednesday’s three-hour block of “AEW Dynamite” and “AEW Collision,” it was revealed that TBS Champion Persephone will be defending her title in an open challenge at AEW All Out on Saturday. According to a new report, that challenge will be answered by a debuting face in the company.
According to Self Made on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, former “WWE NXT UK” and TNA star Dani Luna will challenge for the TBS Championship. Luna departed TNA in April, and on September 16, Fightful Select reported that Luna was expected to sign with the company, if she hadn’t already.
In an update on Friday, Fightful confirmed that Luna has signed with AEW. The outlet reported she had agreed to join “well over a month ago.” Rumors had been swirling about the British star’s arrival to the company since before AEW All In London, but she ended up not debuting for the company during any of its UK shows.
Luna was granted her release from TNA after three years with the company. She was a two-time TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champion. After spending time on the independent scene following her release, Luna took some time over the summer to heal some lingering injuries.
When Persephone issued the open challenge on Wednesday, the CMLL World Women’s Champion specified that Thunder Rosa and Hyan could not answer, as Persephone and Britt Baker will take them on in tag team action in Baker’s native Pittsburgh on “Dynamite.” Persephone also stated that Maya World can’t answer the challenge either, as she’s on the shelf, which was also confirmed in a Wrestling Observer report on Friday.
