Denzel Bentley holds the WBO middleweight title, but his promoter offered nothing to keep his mandatory defense at home. Queensberry did not bid Tuesday. Warriors Boxing won the right to stage Bentley’s fight with Yoenli Hernandez for the $200,000 minimum, leaving the champion facing a proposed U.S. date and a gross purse of $150,000 or $160,000.
Boxing journalist Jake Donovan reported that Warriors was the lone bidder. It proposed December 12 or 19 in Phoenix, Orlando, or Las Vegas. The date and venue remain unconfirmed, but the bid puts Hernandez’s promoter in charge of trying to stage Bentley’s first defense as full champion.
