Patty Mills is expected to join LDLC ASVEL despite the financial uncertainty surrounding the French club, according to BeBasket.
ASVEL was forced to drastically reduce its projected budget from €59 million to €24 million after the DNCCG refused to approve a major prospective partner.
The development has already prompted Sylvain Francisco to leave the project without playing a game for the club. Panathinaikos covered his buyout, while Armoni Brooks is also set to leave the club after previously agreeing to join ASVEL.
Unlike the two guards, Mills is expected to remain committed to Tony Parker’s project. Their long-standing relationship reportedly played an important role in his decision, with the two having shared the backcourt during the San Antonio Spurs’ 2014 NBA championship run.
The 37-year-old Australian is coming off an impressive season with Tenerife, averaging 18.1 points per game in the Spanish League. His campaign included a 36-point performance against Barcelona and 29 points in a historic playoff victory over Real Madrid.
