The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is scheduled to begin on tonight’s episode of “WWE NXT”. Over the weekend, the full list of teams participating in the tournament were revealed. Teams from “NXT”, “WWE EVOLVE” and AAA comprise the brackets. Missing from the tournament are wrestlers from TNA. Since WrestleMania season, TNA and WWE haven’t utilized their relationship on screen very much.
TNA World Heavyweight Champion and one half of the TNA World Tag Team Champions, Nic Nemeth weighed in on TNA talent being left out while appearing on “Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez”. He’s not upset about not being in it because he and his brother, Ryan, are busy. ” There’s a relationship there. We’ve had some moments where we got a lot of NXT people who were brand new, gave them a shot, gave some TV time, got those reps in. It would be nice to see it replicated, but of course it’s not always the time and place for it.”
He reflected on TNA wrestlers showing up on WWE programming and vice versa and the cool moments that were created. “Those moments can still happen and they will when the time is right. It would be great to be represented out there, but also I’m super busy right now and I’m not interested in doing NXT as the world champion and tag team champion,” Nemeth said.
He believes the relationship was fruitful for both sides and has been really positive for TNA and hopes WWE feels the same. He hopes to see more crossover in the future.
