Nattie made the case for one of her wrestling uncles, Dynamite Kid, to enter the WWE Hall of Fame.
“I know Dynamite Kid’s daughter really wants to get her dad into the Hall of Fame,” Nattie told Peter Rosenberg, referring to Bronwyne Billington, otherwise known as the “Dynamite Doll.” “But I do think the Dynamite Kid should one day be in the WWE Hall of Fame. I think that day is sooner than later.”
She continued to say her father, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, had always said Dynamite Kid was his favorite person to wrestle.
“My dad loved wrestling Dynamite,” she said. “He and Dynamite were very close, and Bret [Hart] even says that Dynamite taught him probably the most of anyone in the industry of just how to be the best.”
She added, “So you know, yes, Dynamite was very complicated. But here’s the thing, I have yet to meet anybody who’s at the very top of their game who hasn’t been through ups and downs.”
Dynamite Kid doubles up as both one of the most influential wrestlers and a cautionary tale for those entering the business, having seen his best performances marred by substance abuse, injuries that exacerbated the aforementioned, and backstage issues.
In WWE, he held the Tag titles alongside Davey Boy Smith, and was part of the Hart dynasty’s extended branch as a friend to the family. Nattie said she looks back fondly on their shared style of wrestling, originating from Stu Hart’s wrestling dungeon.
“I think of like the Hart Foundation, I think of Bret. I think of my dad. It’s like that Dungeon style. And then I think of the Bulldogs. Dynamite Kid, Davey Boy Smith, the magic that they made,” she said.
Dynamite Kid died in 2018 at the age of 60. His nephew, Tommy Billington, is currently signed to AEW and Ring of Honor.
