This past weekend at AEW Redemption, one of the most awkward wrestling segments of the year occurred when WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley interviewed the Divine Dominion backstage, where Megan Bayne and Lena Kross asked “The Hardcore Legend” to bow down to them. However, in addition to the Divine Dominion establishing their dominance over Foley, he began barking and oddly saying “Bow wow” while Bayne and Kross watched in silence. The segment left fans very confused, leading Foley to receive backlash after the show, but on Monday, the 61-year-old addressed the criticism from the AEW faithful on social media, explaining that he misheard Bayne and Kross during the interview.
“A SLIGHT MISUNDERSTANDING!#DivineDominion told me to Bow DOWN, not BOW WOW! My bad @themeganbayne @lena_kross – my new favorite tag team!”
Earlier this month, Foley announced that his WWE Legends deal had officially come to an end, and just a week later, he appeared on “AEW Dynamite” for Beach Break. Since then, Foley has become a regularly featured on-air personality and interviewer for AEW, but has stated that he views his role with the company as a “swiss army knife,” as he could also see himself as a manager.
Foley’s bizarre backstage interview with the Divine Dominion wasn’t the only awkward segment in professional wrestling within last few days, with Danhuasen and Joe Hendry’s embarrassing concert on “WWE Raw” last night also receiving the same level of backlash as Foley’s segment at Redemption.
