Former WWE star Maven thinks highly of new WWE recruit, Zilla Fatu, believing that he has everything it takes to be a big star.
Maven has a connection with Fatu, having been friends with Fatu’s father and former WWE star Umaga. In an interview with “Rewind Recap Relive,” Maven spoke fondly about his friendship with Umaga and revealed that he talks to Fatu and gives him whatever advice he can to help him improve, stating that Fatu still needs development and polishing.
“He’s in that stage right now in his wrestling career where he’s just, he’s finding his footing, but he’s just not comfortable and confident in who he is. And I’m, you know, I’m telling him, you need to, like, you have everything that it takes to be a star. And once you believe that, it’ll all come together,” said Maven. “I have no doubt in my mind what this kid has. And again, his pops, man, his pops took care of me in HWA, and I loved his dad.”
Maven said that his friendship with Umaga blossomed during his time in Heartland Wrestling Association, where he was sent after winning Tough Enough. He said he’s rooting for Fatu to make it big in WWE, owing to his friendship with his father. Maven disclosed that he recently had a conversation with Fatu about a promo he cut on “NXT” and gave him feedback on how he could’ve improved it.
Fatu has quite a bit of assistance in WWE thanks to his father’s run with the promotion, and has also been trained by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, who has spoken highly of him. Fatu is also a member of the famed Anoaʻi family, whose many members currently work on the main roster, which includes the likes of Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Jacob Fatu.
