Rapper Lil Yachty had his first WWE match at Sunday Night’s Main Event, where he survived five minutes against Baron Corbin to earn Trick Williams a shot at the United States Championship. Yachty had been training for months at the WWE Performance Center, and he told Chris Van Vliet on “Insight” that he wasn’t nervous the day of the match.
Yachty said there were some things he’d do differently in the bout, after having watched it back, however. He said he would’ve taken his tank top off, in addition to adding more flair.
“I would’ve taunted more, because I have personality,” he said. “I would have interacted with the crowd more. I would’ve charged up more. I would have just like gave it more character. I think I would have ended differently on that top rope. I think I would have ended that moment differently when it was counting down.”
Though he would have tweaked some things, Yachty said he received no criticism backstage. He said he knew Paul “Triple H” Levesque would have said something, but he got two hugs from the boss along with congratulations. He said he felt the love when he walked back through gorilla position.
“It’s like, ‘I pray everyone’s clapping when I walk back through the curtain,'” he said. “And everyone’s back there clapping. It was dope… I f*** with this s***, man. I really do. I never tried to make anyone believe how invested and how much I love this, because it’s not for the money. I don’t want nobody to think I’m just getting some crazy check. I’m losing money doing this. But, I love it. I love everything about this s***.”
