Argentina and Panama tipped off the FIBA window in the Americas with big FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers victories on Thursday.

In Montevideo’s Antel Arena, Argentina rode a massive second half to defeat Uruguay 91–76. The hosts kept the game tight early and even held an eight-point lead in the second quarter. However, Leandro Bolmaro flipped the momentum in the third period with a crucial three-pointer en route to a game-high 22 points. Teammates Gabriel Deck and Facundo Campazzo combined for another 37 points to secure the road win.

Clinching a berth in the next round, Panama used a strong home-court advantage to handle Cuba 83–70 in Panama City’s Arena Roberto Duran. They took control late in the first quarter by launching a 10-2 scoring run to erase an early deficit. Ricardo Lindo paved the way with 21 points, and Iverson Molinar added 18 points, while Eric Romero posted a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double.
