It’s out of the octagon and onto the RAF mats for Khamzat Chimaev.
On Tuesday, RAF announced that recent signee and former UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev will make his promotional debut next month in the main event of RAF 10, where he takes on combat sports lightning rod Dillon Danis in a catchweight bout.
RAF announced Chimaev’s signing to the promotion during RAF 8 in April, but had to wait for UFC 328 and his middleweight title defense against Sean Strickland to get sorted before they could book him in his first match. Unfortunately for “Borz,” he lost that fight, dropping the title to Strickland via split decision this past Saturday. Now, Chimaev has his sights set on a rematch with Strickland, but in the meantime, he can join his good friend Arman Tsarukyan on the RAF mats.
Originally rising to prominence in MMA as a training partner of Conor McGregor, Danis has become a brand of his own over the past decade. At one time considered one of the best grapplers in the world, Danis has instead varied his focus over the years, competing in both MMA and boxing, and recently making his RAF debut against Coby Covington at RAF 7, where he lost via tech fall.
RAF 10 goes down June 13 at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Mo.
