WWE star Jade Cargill’s finisher, the Jaded, dates back to her time in AEW. However, the move has always been a clear homage to Beth Phoenix’s Glam Slam, which the WWE talent has opened up about in an interview with Atlanta United FC’s “The Guuuzan Show.”
“I didn’t know what I was going to do,” she recalled, adding that former AEW wrestler Ivelisse brainstormed with her on her finisher, urging her to go for a move that wouldn’t just be terrifying, but also put her opponents face in the camera, where they could visibly react to the move. “Beth Phoenix is an amazing woman. And I’d see when she went out there, she’s a powerhouse. I was like, ‘Oh, I want to be a powerhouse just like that.'”
Cargill then proclaimed that no one ever kicked out of the Glam Slam, though Phoenix’s former tag partner Nattie (Natalya Neidhart) did at one point. Cargill then suggested that because of how formidable the move was, she expected it to get the same treatment under her. “I wanted to do something that was different, and I want to do something that shows fear, and I wanted to put my opponent’s face plastered right on the screen, and everybody can see that I’m about to get this win!” she expressed.
After making her in-ring debut with AEW in 2021, Cargill spent several years with the company before leaving and signing with WWE. Since then, she’s become a multi-time champion, with two tag title reigns to her name alongside Bianca Belair, as well as a run with the WWE Women’s Championship.
