Alonzo Menifield picked up another impressive upset win at UFC 331—and a grisly injury to go along with it.

Heading into the third round of his light heavyweight fight with undefeated prospect Iwo Baraniewski on Saturday, it was evident that Menifield’s hand was in bad shape as the cameras got a good look at his right thumb, which looked to not only be broken, but a bit of bone appeared to be poking out.

Menifield went on to earn a hard-fought split decision, then revealed in his post-fight interview that his thumb had indeed been severely injured during the fight. UFC CEO Dana White later shared another, much more graphic photo to his social media.

Given how nasty the injury looks, Menifield could be on the mend for some time, but it’s not all bad news as he’ll have time to bask on his recent success. The veteran light heavyweight has now won two straight fights and four of his past five, with three of those wins being major upsets over Baraniewski, Zhang Mingyang, and Oumar Sy.
