Dina Thorslund reclaimed top status in the bantamweight division Saturday night, pitching a shutout against Cherneka “Sugar Neekz” Johnson to capture undisputed 118-pound glory at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida.
All three judges scored the bout 100-90, awarding the Dane every round of the 10-round MVPW-05 headliner.
Constant pressure, relentless volume and clean combinations set the tempo early. The defending champion found no answers to slow the pace or mount a meaningful counterattack.
By the second half, Johnson needed something significant to change the direction of the fight. She never found it. Thorslund remained in command through the closing bell, completing a remarkably one-sided championship performance.
Johnson never established enough distance to disrupt Thorslund’s pressure, allowing the Dane to dictate exchanges throughout the fight.
The victory unified the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO titles under Thorslund.
Her return to the top follows a difficult period outside the ring. Thorslund previously held the WBC and WBO bantamweight titles before vacating them in June 2025 after announcing her pregnancy. She later suffered a miscarriage.
A return in January 2026 brought Thorslund the WBC interim featherweight title before she moved back down to 118 pounds to challenge Johnson.
Johnson had collected the belts that became available during Thorslund’s absence and came into Saturday night as the undisputed champion. That reign ended decisively.
Emotional celebrations followed the verdict, with Thorslund sharing the moment inside the ring with her son after completing her return to the top of the bantamweight division.
