Darren Till thinks Ian Machado Garry talks too much.
Since his arrival onto the global MMA scene, Garry has been a divisive figure among the MMA community for some of the things he says, so much so that many of his fellow fighters have come out to trash him for his takes. This happened again last week, when, as part of his media tour ahead of UFC 330, Garry commented that the world would be better off if women ruled it. This led many high-profile names to rip Garry, and now former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till has joined the fray.
“I’m not a hateful guy. I don’t hate Ian Garry,” Till told The Mac Life. “But I just think every time that guy speaks, he just absolutely tarnishes his brand, his image, by what he’s talking about. Look, I’m a guy for the power of the women. I have four girls and me missus and stuff like that. Powerful women, of course, we love that, but it’s just the things he says. And it’s always like he’s trying to buy love. If he was a bit more like me, mate, people would love him, because he’s obviously a great fighter.
“The one thing as well, people can see and know a fake guy. And he’s got fake written all over him. For me he has, anyway.”
Garry challenges Islam Makhachev for the welterweight title next Saturday in the main event of UFC 330. Till, meanwhile, fights Yoel Romero in the main event of BKFC 94 on Sep. 24.
