Carlik Jones stepped up when South Sudan needed him most, while Brancou Badio produced an all-around performance for Senegal as both teams secured wins in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 African Qualifiers. Guinea also enjoyed a convincing victory over Cameroon.
Jones led South Sudan to a hard-fought 79-75 win over Tunisia in Rades, finishing with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists. The Partizan guard scored eight of his team’s 13 points in the final five minutes, helping the visitors survive a tense finish.
Majok Deng also played a key role with 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. Toumi paced Tunisia with 24 points, five rebounds and three assists, including nine points in just over two minutes late in the fourth quarter.

In Dakar, Senegal rolled past Mali 97-71, with Badio contributing 22 points, six rebounds and a game-high eight assists. He was perfect from the foul line, making all seven attempts, and helped Senegal take charge from the opening minutes.
Badio scored nine points during a 13-0 run that turned an early two-point deficit into a double-digit lead. Senegal never surrendered control, winning every quarter and finishing with its largest advantage of the game.
Jean Jacques Boissy led Senegal in scoring with 26 points, adding seven rebounds and five assists in just 23 minutes, while Ibou Badji supplied 10 points and seven boards. Mamoudou Diarra finished with 14 points and six rebounds for Mali.
Elsewhere in Group E, Guinea defeated Cameroon 90-67 behind Shannon Evans’ 19 points, five rebounds and five assists. Evans hit five three-pointers and committed no turnovers, while Sekou Doumbouya added 18 points and six rebounds. Souleymane Boum contributed 16 points and Mamadi Diakite scored 12 as Guinea controlled almost the entire contest. Roger Moute A Bidias led Cameroon with 17 points.
