Alex Sarr will ease into training camp, but the Washington Wizards expect him to be ready for their first regular-season game.
General manager Will Dawkins said the 21-year-old will initially take part in only some team activities as he works his way back from a fractured right foot.
Sarr broke the foot during a workout this summer and had surgery in June. It was his second injury setback in a matter of months: a problem with his left big toe had already cut short his 2025-26 campaign.
Before his season ended, the French center averaged 16.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists, while he shot 48.2% from the field and 33.3% from three.
