Former AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker was on an extended hiatus before this weekend’s AEW All In: London 2026, where she interfered in Persephone and Maya World’s match for the TBS Championship.

After catching wind of the online responses to her return, Baker took to social media to address her fans and thank them for hyping up her re-emergence.

Given comments she made ahead of All In, it seems like Baker has been going along with the rumors of her pending departure and dissatisfaction with AEW. One fan commented on a post of Baker’s on X, wishing that she would return at the Wembley pay-per-view, with the AEW wrestler simply commenting “same,” leading many to believe that she genuinely wants to return and isn’t allowed to due to creative or backstage politics, or is being “held hostage” by her contract with AEW.

A report from “PWTorch” last year claimed that Baker had massive amounts of backstage heat in AEW, even with boss Tony Khan. The report went on to predict that Baker could be done with AEW, and per its sources in the promotion, she was likely in the same spot as some of the other wrestlers who were waiting for their contracts to expire while they sat at home. On top of this, Baker’s alleged backstage incident with MJF and his then-girlfriend, Alicia Atout, was also cited as one of the reasons for her absence and proclaimed as the death knell for her time with the promotion.
