AEW and ROH star Anthony Henry hasn’t been in a wrestling ring since July, and as revealed on social media, there’s a legitimate reason for that.

In a new Instagram reel, Henry revealed that long-term damage to his neck could potentially lead to a big surgery, which means that his future in pro wrestling is currently up in the air. On top of that, Henry had been dealing with bicep and elbow injuries.

“In 2021, I was in a match and I got hurt. Turns out, I actually herniated two disks in my cervical spine C5, C6,” Henry said. “Once we figured out what it actually was, I got an epidural shot and it helped a ton. Within a few months I was good to go. Let’s be real though, these injuries never really fully heal, do they? And my newest MRI shows bulging or herniated discs through my entire neck, bone spurs wedged between them, and a spinal cavity that keeps getting narrower.

“Honestly, it’s f***ing scary,” he continued. “Unfortunately, this has been a reoccurring issue, especially over the last year. I’ve done the PT and the epidurals have just stopped working. I’m getting two separate opinions, but everything that I have read points towards neck fusion surgery.”

Despite the startling reality of his cervical health, Henry noted that he’s choosing to move forward with an optimistic mindset, especially after knowing that Adam “Edge” Copeland, Tommaso Ciampa, and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin bounced back from similar neck fusion surgeries in the past. Copeland and Ciampa are now colleagues of Henry’s in AEW.

The WorkHorseman himself is a 25-year veteran of the squared circle, and admittedly doesn’t know how much time his career left on the clock to begin with. Nevertheless, he fully intends to come back from whatever awaits him “better, stronger, and more skilled” than ever before.

Further updates on Henry’s neck and in-ring career are expected to come via his Instagram in the near future. Last month, he underwent another surgery, this one in relation to a complication stemming from a previous torn bicep repair.
